Reasoning about Fluents in Logic Programming
نویسنده
چکیده
Fluent Logic Programming (FLP) is an attempt to suitably combine into a simple language ideas coming from well known temporal reasoning frameworks like Kowalski's Event Calculus and Sandewall's Features and Fluents. In this paper we propose the core syntax of FLP together with two complementary semantics. The rst one is a x-point semantics which declaratively captures the operational notion of Ego-World game originally proposed by Sandewall to characterize intended temporal models of scenario descriptions. The second is based on a meta-logical translation of FLP programs (FLP-chronicles) into normal logic programs and their meta-level execution by means of a multi-theory meta-interpreter.

This report formally deenes the class of all problems on Reasoning about Actions and Change, where accurate and complete information about actions, together with strict inertia in continuous time, continuous change and alternative results of possibly concurrent and independent actions are the assumed properties. The intended model set for each member in the class is deened in terms of a model-t...
متن کاملA Preliminary Discussion of Fluents for Knowledge Representation in a Meta-Reasoner for Enterprise Information Systems
It is a reasonable proposition to suggest that a high level, metareasoner for Enterprise Information Systems should exist. Such a reasoner could act as a monitor, manager, planner, and trouble shooter for the information resources of an organization. The lead author has built such a reasoner, which is now in its nascent stages. The software is based upon a logic programming paradigm, and employ...

This work involves two areas of research in computer science, namely Knowledge Representation and Logic Programming. Starting from the formalism proposed in Features & Fluents by Erik Sandewall for describing and reasoning about Inhabited Dynamical Systems, we try to reconstruct it within a Logic Programming framework. The result is an extended logic programming language called Fluent Logic Pro...

Nonmonotonic causal logic is a knowledge representation language designed for describing domains that involve actions and change. The process of literal completion, similar to program completion familiar from the theory of logic programming, can be used to translate some nonmonotonic causal theories into classical logic. Its applicability is restricted, however, to theories that deal with truth...
متن کاملTheories of Intentions in the Framework of Situation Calculus
We propose an extension of action theories to intention theories in the framework of situation calculus. Moreover the method for implementing action theories is adapted to consider the new components. The intention theories take account of the BDI (Belief-Desire-Intention) architecture. In order to avoid the computational complexity of theorem proving in modal logic, we explore an alternative a...
